"More than half of the invested capital comes from investment transfers, which shows the true value of the product”- How Montrose simplified investment transfers with Insurely.

We sat down with Daniel Bargiel Almer, CPO at Montrose, to hear how the newly launched investment platform, live since October 2024, has built momentum with Insurely’s Investment Data Access solution.

What we learnt was the challenges Montrose set out to solve, why they chose Insurely, and the impact that speed of the investment transfers initiations are already having on adoption rates and savings volume.

The challenge they faced: getting customers to actually switch Investment provider.

When Montrose launched, the challenge was not about opening an account, people seemed generally excited about the brand. Their target audience already had investment portfolios elsewhere, but convincing them to endure the complicated and time-consuming process to transfer their portfolio wasn’t easy.

"Getting someone to open a new portfolio is easy compared to convincing them to move an existing one," says Daniel. "The investment transfer process is typically manual, filled with friction, retrieving account numbers, navigating outdated interfaces, and hoping everything goes right. That’s where we would lose share of wallet and that’s exactly what Insurely’s solution is built to prevent."

When switching providers involves extra effort for the customer, motivation drops, and so does conversion. Montrose needed a way to reduce that friction and lower the barrier to entry.

How Investment Data Access work:

With Investment Data Access they have created a smooth and intuitive flow for their customers to easily onboard and switch providers. Customers are able to choose the provider they would like to switch from to Montrose and in the background Insurely ensures that all the correct information is given to Montrose to enable a smooth investment transfer.

The result: higher internal efficiency, stronger savings volume and a better user experience.

With Insurely’s real-time data powering their investment transfer flow, Montrose saw an immediate impact. Almost half of their customers initiated a transfer, which shows the true value of the product.

"Since going live, Insurely’s smooth transfer process has helped us more than double the average portfolio size on our platform,” says Daniel. “We’ve built a flow that removes friction and builds confidence. And our customers are responding."

The reliability of the flow has been another major win. Technical issues have been minimal, and when they do arise, the response is swift.

"Working with Insurely almost feels like an extended internal team," says Daniel.

Why they chose Insurely: responsive, flexible, and built for compliance.

When it came to choosing a partner, Montrose evaluated several providers in the market. What set Insurely apart was their technical maturity, deep legal expertise in open finance, as well as the way the team worked.

"From day one, Insurely stood out, technically stronger and more responsive than other providers. Insurely’s flexibility and regulatory know-how made them the clear choice," Daniel explains.

That rare combination of deep product knowledge, fast iteration, and human connection has made Insurely an essential partner in Montrose’s launch and growth. And with customer momentum building, the future of the partnership is just getting started.
